What we do?
The Food Safety Squad is an initiative by the Nutrition Council of India (NCI) aimed at enhancing food safety and promoting safe, nutritious, and healthy eating practices. Announced on World Food Safety Day, the squad comprises newly inducted members dedicated to these goals. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to ensure food safety and nutrition, such as the 'Safe and Nutritious Food at Workplace' campaign led by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Given recent concerns over the quality and safety of Indian spices, with nearly 12% of tested samples failing to meet standards, the establishment of the Food Safety Squad underscores the importance of proactive measures in safeguarding public health Issues
