NCI - Research
The Nutrition Council of India is committed to conducting research that addresses critical nutrition-related issues in the country. Our research focuses on assessing the nutritional status of diverse population groups, including children, pregnant women, and the elderly, to identify gaps and develop targeted interventions. We investigate the relationship between dietary patterns and prevalent health conditions such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and malnutrition to inform preventive strategies. Our efforts also include evaluating the effectiveness of various nutritional interventions, such as dietary supplements, fortification programs, and nutrition education, in improving health outcomes. Additionally, we analyze food security challenges and develop policies to enhance access to nutritious food for vulnerable populations. Through our research, we aim to promote nutrition education and awareness to encourage healthier eating habits and lifestyles. Looking to the future, we plan to explore the genetic determinants of nutritional requirements, examine the impact of climate change on food production and quality, study the effects of urbanization on dietary patterns and health outcomes, research sustainable agricultural practices, and utilize digital health technologies for better nutrition monitoring and education. By addressing these research areas, we aim to contribute significantly to the understanding of nutrition-related issues in India and develop evidence-based policies and programs to improve the nutritional status of the population.
