Lucknow, 15 April 2025 — In a strategic move to expand its student engagement and public health mission, the Nutrition Council of India (NCI) has successfully initiated the promotion of the Food Safety Squad (FSS) program at the Department of Food and Nutrition, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU).
An interactive awareness session was conducted to introduce students to the mission and activities of NCI, with a special focus on the NCICON event and the dynamic role of the Food Safety Squad (FSS). The session also highlighted the process and benefits of NCI membership, aiming to equip young nutritionists with leadership opportunities in food safety, hygiene advocacy, and community nutrition initiatives.
Students engaged actively throughout the session, raising insightful questions about FSS registration, membership procedures, and course enrollments. The organizing team addressed their concerns, offering clear guidance and reassurance.
Students responded with great enthusiasm, raising thoughtful queries about FSS registration, membership criteria, and training programs. These queries were addressed by the organizing team, who guided students on how to get involved and make the most of the opportunities provided by the NCI.
The session was organized under the guidance of Prof. Neetu Singh, who encouraged students to join the initiative, highlighting its alignment with the Shudh Bharat Mission — a national movement led by Dr. Kshitij Bhardwaj, promoting ethical food, nutrition safety, and hygiene.
Present at the session were Dr. Jyoti Yadav and Dt. Varsha, who introduced students to the current scope and reforms of the FSS mission, offering real-time insights into the squad’s functioning and impact.
