Nutrition Council of India Sets Up Regional Powerhouses in Meerut, Aurangabad, and Lucknow for Nation-Wide Nutrition Surveillance”

Nutrition Council of India Expands Reach with New Centers in Meerut, Aurangabad, and Lucknow

Lucknow, May 21, 2025 — In a major move to strengthen India’s public health and nutrition framework, the Nutrition Council of India (NCI) has announced the opening of new regional centers in Meerut (West UP), Aurangabad, and Lucknow (East UP). These centers will serve as pivotal institutions for promoting health and nutrition education, research, and policy implementation across the country.

The Lucknow center will function as a central hub for monitoring the nutrition status at every level—from agricultural practices and food production to clinical application by healthcare professionals. This holistic approach aims to bridge the gap between the fields of agriculture, nutrition science, and medical practice.

Dr. Kshitij Bhardwaj, Chairman of the Nutrition Council of India, stated, “Our goal is to create an integrated system where nutrition is addressed not just at the table or hospital bed, but right from the farm to the clinic. These centers will work closely with farmers, researchers, dietitians, and doctors to ensure a unified public health strategy.”

The newly launched centers will also collaborate with academic institutions, government bodies, and international health organizations to facilitate community outreach, professional training, and nutrition surveillance programs.

This strategic expansion underscores NCI’s commitment to advancing nutritional literacy and combating malnutrition through science-backed, region-specific interventions.
